Baby Boy!

Today we found out we are having a baby boy!  Steve and I could not be happier especially since all signs are that he is healthy.   Secretly, I think Steve is super excited it is a boy because he currently lives with a lot of estrogen surrounding him (me and our 2 dogs!)

The ultra sound experience today was amazing!  I had been through one before at 12 weeks but today's was a lot different .  The technician explained she was going to measure every part of the body, starting with the head all the way down to the toes.  She explained the process as "opening dresser drawers": each part of the body is a dresser and within the dresser are drawers she needed to open to make sure everything looked good.  Ok, so that made sense but I was thinking "Seriously! Can't you just start in the middle so we can find out if our baby is a boy or a girl"  But, I kept my thought to myself and let her do her thing.  She measured the head, the brain, the face, etc and then she got to the tummy (which by the way, is bigger than our little man's head) and all of the sudden she started laughing and she said "I can't hide this anymore" and at that moment, Steve and I both looked at where she was pointing and there HE was in all his glory!  We were both so excited and it was such a great moment to share with each other.   Seeing the smile on Steve's face and the tears in his eyes is a picture in my mind I will never, ever forget.  So after we calmed down from the great news, the technician began measuring again and everything measured normal, all the way down to his little toes- YEAH!

Our little man weighs 1 lb 3 oz and he is already in the 64% percentile for weight;  which is big at this stage in the game!  Things we noticed about our baby today:
  • He loves to stick his tongue out (can we say attitude already?!)
  • He sleeps with one arm above his head (just like his mommy!)
  • He enjoys kicking (could he be a soccer player like his daddy?!)
  • He wiggles so much and then he just stops and falls asleep (so cute!)
During the appointment the technician described our baby as wiggly, stubborn (he would not move to certain position so she could get the right pictures/measurements), dramatic (because he sleeps with his arm above his head) and above average (because of his current weight)

So that was our day today,  thank you for all of your emails, calls and texts.  Let the baby registering and decorating begin!
